R. L. Stine is an American novelist, short story writer, television producer, screenwriter, and executive editor who has authored hundreds of horror fiction novels.

Stine wrote dozens of children’s books of humor under the name Jovial Bob Stine. For 72 issues between 1975 and 1984, he created the comedy magazine Bananas for adolescents, distributed by Scholastic Press. Stine published his first horror book, entitled Blind Date, in 1986. He was also the co-creator and head writer for Eureeka ‘s Castle, the Nickelodeon children’s TV series. In 1992, he released Goosebumps, the iconic children’s book series.
