Pooja Shukla (born January 6, 1996, Age: 25 years) is a young politician and a social worker from Uttar Pradesh. She has remained a part of media talks due to her protest against BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) and campaigns for Samajwadi Party.

She is the girl who waved black flags at Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and got arrested for her unlawful act in 2017. After it, she always remained a part of Indian Politics and now got the ticket to fight from the Lucknow Constituency for upcoming Chief Ministers elections against the BJP candidate Neeraj Bora.

Pooja has completed her school education in a local school in Lucknow where she was born on January 6, 1996,

She afterward went to Lucknow University to complete gradation. But due to protest, she didn’t get admission to Lucknow University in 2018 as her admission got denied for protesting against the chief minister.

Being the youngest member of Samajwadi party Pooja earlier on 7 June 2017 when she was going to complete her graduate studies in Lucknow University sat on the road and blocked the way of Current Prime Minister of Uttar Pradesh Mr. Yogi Adityanath by joining the All India Students Association, Students Federation of India and Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha.

Mr. Adityanath was going to the Lucknow University campus to share the on-stage message by taking a part in the Hindi Swaraj Diwas event. Pooja thereby blocking the road tried to convey her message and showed black flags and raised slogans against the Uttar Pradesh government. She got arrested along with other students and was sent to jail.

All this shows that she is very conscious about her country and state and can do anything for the citizens of India.

For this she shared that I had never thought we would be arrested but it reaffirmed my faith in fighting for what is right, she said recalling the incident.

Later Pooja got released from jail after 20 days and started her career in Politics by meeting the Samajwadi Pary founder Mulayam Singh Yadav and becoming the Samajwadi Chatra Sabha party’s student wing member.

Pooja started her political career in 2017 after joining hands with Samajwadi Party. She joined the Samajwadi party because she was impressed with the political career and struggle of Mulayam Singh Yadav. She was very much aware of all the policies that earlier Mulayam Singh Yadav has executed for the state. So decided to remain active in student politics through the leadership of the Samajwadi Party. She has always believed that the SP part is much closer to democratic values for the country.

When Pooja admission was denied by Lucknow University she at that time launched an indefinite hunger strike and force the university administration to buckle down and allow admission to all the students who blocked the road of Chief Minster along with her.

This must be changed. Only a politically aware student can choose a better leader. This is how young people can change the politics of the country and take it towards development.” Ms. Shukla had joined a group of women staging a protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act at Clock Tower in Lucknow in January 2020.
