Jon Kabat-Zinn (born June 5， 1944) is an emeritus professor of medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and the founder of the Stress Reduction Clinic and the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine， Health Care， and Society. Kabat-Zinn was a founding member of Cambridge Zen Center and a student of Buddhist masters such as Thich Nhat Hanh and Zen Master Seung Sahn. His yoga practise and study with Buddhist masters prompted him to combine their teachings with scientific knowledge. He teaches mindfulness as a technique for dealing with stress， worry， discomfort， and disease， which he claims may help individuals manage. Medical centres， hospitals， and health maintenance organisations provide Kabat-stress Zinn’s reduction approach， dubbed Mindfulness-based stress reduction.
