Hanny Papanicolaou has been married to Nick Papanicolaou for almost ten years.

On Tuesday, Nick told the NSW Supreme Court that he had never seen his wife respond furiously towards him or anybody else in the aftermath of such a horrific event.
He goes on to add that his wife’s relationship with the older woman had been pleasant up to that point. She had already presented her Christmas presents and welcomed family members to her home.
Following his wife’s imprisonment, he allegedly discovered a bottle of “anxiety medications” he had never seen before.
Mr. Papanicolaou also said that his wife wasn’t always a gambler but that by 2019, she preferred smoking and relaxing at the neighborhood club.

Marjorie Welsh Murder Trial
Hanny Papanicolaou confesses to assaulting Marjorie Welsh at her house in Sydney’s inner west on January 2, 2019, but denies murdering her.
When she carried out the attack, Papanicolaou’s attorneys claimed she was significantly hampered by a mental illness.
Papanicolaou said in court that she “blacked out” during the attack and was depressed at the time.
It also said Papanicolaou lacked the demeanor of a despondent person and had never communicated her sentiments to anybody before the incident.
Papanicolaou’s barrister Tom Quilter had rubbished the prosecutor’s theft theory, saying there is “simply no evidence.”
Papanicolaou actually stole anything despite the jury hearing evidence that cash, a handbag, a ring, and an expensive watch were inside the house.
Papanicolaou had never been violent before, he said, and had no motive to attack Ms. Welsh, he said. Papanicolaou will be sentenced at a later date.
