Craig Way Biography

Craig Way is an American play-by-play announcer for the Texas Longhorns sports network. He does live radio play-by-play coverage for all major Texas Longhorn sports such as Longhorn football, men’s and women’s basketball and baseball. He also hosts his own daily AM 1300 radio show The Zone, the Longhorn sports flagship station

Craig attended the University of North Texas, where he worked a variety of duties for the KNTU (the school’s radio station), eventually, Way graduated with a degree in Broadcast Journalism in the year 1985.

After graduating from the University in 1985, Craig worked for KRLD in Dallas for 13 years as a talk show host, sports anchor, and play-by-play guy. Several crucial things have happened during this time. First, from 1988 to 1992, Craig worked as a studio host for football broadcasts from the University of Texas and the Southwest Conference Radio Network.

Craig has had the opportunity to cover many major sporting events, including the 2006 Rose Bowl, in which Texas captured the National Championship in college football while working with the University.

He also covered Texas in the 2003 Final Four in New Orleans along with two Baseball National Championships for Texas in the College World Series in 2002 and 2005.

1992 was a great year for him. Not only did he become the official voice of the Texas High School Football State Championships for the TV network today known as Fox Sports Southwest, Craig was also dubbed radio analyst for Longhorn football and men’s basketball.

Way’s broadcast career received another major boost in 1997. On top of hosting TV’s “High School Scoreboard Live” and becoming radio play-by-play voice for UT women’s basketball, Craig moved with his family to Austin to host a daily sports talk show.

Craig assumed his current position as “Voice of the Texas Longhorns.” In 2001, after his Longhorn Radio Network broadcast partner Bill Schoenig moved on to call San Antonio Spurs games.

16 years later, Craig added to an already succesful career resume, when he was named Sports Director by the Austin Radio Network to coordinate Longhorn football, basketball, baseball, and softball broadcasts, as well as nurture ARN’s evolving high school football network.
