The brothers were both molested by a relative,that Carey later came to reveal as their elder sister Theresa kelly. He claimed that it was R. Kelly’s unexpected reaction to his confession that led him to keep the information a secret from their mother.
According to Carey, the abuse reportedly began when Theresa would be left to babysit her younger brothers while their mother went for work.
“My mom had to work and go to school,” Carey recalled. “My sister watched us, and my mother trusted her. I was afraid to tell my mother. I didn’t know how everything would change. I knew that my sister was the only one to watch us.”
He claimed that his sister would not allow him or his brother R. Kelly. A scheme she used to control them. He also claimed that she punished them and forced them to stay inside with her.
Carey says Theresa would take advantage of the two sexually, while they were in the home alone.
While trying to explain what happened , in an interview Carey states; “She opened her robe and didn’t have anything on under the robe, I was only 6, but I knew that it was wrong. She just took my head and put it down in her private part. She told me to lick her private part. Of course, I didn’t know what I was doing at six years old. She was like, ‘Stick your tongue out. Stick your tongue out. Lick it, lick it, lick it hard, lick it fast.’ And then she started giving me oral sex with her mouth. So she turned around and laid me down, and she sat on me. And she took her hand, and she grabbed my private part, and she put it in.”
He further stated that he would often beg his mother to stay home so that he would not have to endure the abuse from his sister. But his mother needed to work and go to school to provide for their family.
He further said that he had not set his eyes on his sister Theresa since their mother’s funeral in 1993. They spoke over the phone years later, and Carey said he told her that he forgave her for the abuse.

The brothers have long had a contentious relationship. During a 2006 interview with MTV News, he claimed that R. Kelly tried to get him to take the blame for the infamous sex tape that landed him on trial for child pornography charges in 2002.
His brother’s attorney at one point claimed that it was actually Carey, not R. Kelly, who was filmed having sex with and urinating on an underage girl, an accusations that his brother never apologized for, even though it “destroyed” his life, Carey said. His brother went to the extent of offering him thousands of dollars, a record deal, and a house if he took the blame, Carey said in another 2006 interview that was released on DVD by Drahma Magazine. R. Kelly’s Brother Carey Kelly is Worried He May Kill Himself, Says ‘Robert Is Not Built For Jail’

“The easy way out would be for him to take his life,” Carey Kelly said as his famous brother faces 10 counts of criminal sexual abuse involving three underage girls and one adult woman.
The situation is looking dire for R. Kelly and the disgraced singer’s brother is worried that he may hurt himself as a result.
Kelly was charged with 10 counts of aggravated criminal sex abuse on Friday, and spent the weekend in jail before pleading not guilty and making bail on Monday. With Kelly reportedly facing up to 70 years if convicted, the 52-year-old singer’s younger brother Carey Kelly said he’s “concerned” about his brother possibly being suicidal.
“Robert is not built for jail,” Carey said Tuesday On according to ABC News’ ‘”Good Morning America”. “I’m concerned about others harming him as well, but the reason why I say Robert might harm himself is because he won’t want to face the gangbangers [and others].”
“Robert would be suicidal because he can’t do that for years,” he continued. “The easy way out would be for him to take his life.”
R. Kelly has been accused of sexual misconduct involving three underage girls and one adult woman, according to recently released court documents. Attorney Michael Avenatti gave Chicago prosecutors what he claims is a sex tape that shows Kelly sexually assaulting an underage girl, and handed over a second tape on Monday, less than two weeks after the first. He also suggested that there may be a third tape in existence, according to the Associated Press.
R. Kelly, who is due back in court on March 22, has routinely denied all allegations of sexual misconduct, with his lawyer Steven Greenberg recently commenting that Kelly “is a rock star. He doesn’t have to have nonconsensual sex.”
Carey Kelly said Tuesday that he would like to see his brother get help (a sentiment that he’s expressed before).
“They have evidence, they have facts, they have DNA. They’re not building a case based on what people are just saying,” Carey said. “I would like to see him get help. If he’s found guilty of these allegations and these charges, he has to deal with that.”
Carey also referred to his brother as being “sick” and “like the devil,” and compared him to a “person that’s on drugs.” He also referred to the sexual abuse that both he and his brother suffered as children, but said that being a victim of molestation does not justify his brother’s alleged actions.
“He mentioned that he got molested by a family member years later,” Carey said. “No, it’s not an excuse, and I’m an example of why it shouldn’t be an excuse, because I’ve been molested.”
Carey opened up about being molested as a child during Lifetime’s explosive “Surviving R. Kelly” documentary. He’d tried to tell Robert about the abuse (Carey was 7 and Robert 8 at the time), but was shut down, and he pointed to that experience as the chief reason why he never tried to tell an adult about what was being done to him.
“Robert, being my big brother — I brought that to him and told him what happened to me,” he said. “And when I told him what happened to me he didn’t really respond to it like I felt that he should. He said, ‘Naw, that didn’t happen to you.’ I said, ‘Yes it did.’ Robert said, ‘No it didn’t.’ Then I left it alone, I really knew not to take it to my mom. My brothers was the test. If they believed me then maybe I could have took it to an adult.”
Carey and Robert are estranged, with Carey having claimed that his famous brother tried to bribe him to take the fall for him during his 2008 child pornography case. The “Ignition” singer was ultimately acquitted of all charges.
