Amy Carter Bio
Amy Lynn Carter was born on the 19th day of October 1967 in Plains, Georgia, United States. She was born to Eleanor Rosalynn and James Earl Carter Jr. alongside her three brothers, Jack, Donnel and James. Amy spent the first three years of her life in her birthplace, Plains. Her family then moved to Georgia’s capital city, Atlanta to live in the government house when her father became the state governor in 1970. In 1976, they left Atlanta, Georgia for the White House in Washington D.C. when Jimmy became president.
Amy Carter completed her elementary school education at the Stevens Elementary School, Washington D.C. She then proceeded to the Rose Hardy Middle School also in W.D.C. after which she did her senior high at the Woodward Academy in College Park, close to Atlanta.
On completing high school, Amy Carter enrolled at the Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. She, however, could not complete her program as the university dismissed her in 1987 during her second year for failing to cover her course work. Amy then moved to the Memphis College of Arts in Tennessee, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts. She later earned an M.A in Arts History from the Tulane University, New Orleans.
As an arts professional, Carter provided illustrations for The Little Baby Snoogle-Fleejer, a book written for children by Jimmy Carter in 1996. She is also a member of the Board of Counselors of The Carter Center, a human rights charity organization founded by Jimmy Carter in 1982.
Family Life
While studying at Tulane, Amy Carter met James Gregory Wentzel, a computer consultant. After dating for a few years, they married in September 1996. Carter and Wentzel welcomed their first child, a son named Hugo James Wentzel on 29th July 1999.

3. Amy’s Tree House
Amy Carter really enjoyed a carefree life at the White House during her dad’s presidency. With the help of her friends, she erected a tree house on the South Lawn of the presidential villa. There, she usually hosted slumber parties for her friends with Secret Service watching over them. She was even allowed to roller skate through the White House East Room.
